CE Marking
CE marking of construction products under the CPD is possible where Harmonised Technical Specifications exist such as European Technical Approval Guidelines (ETAGs) and Euronorms (ENs). The system of attestation and the particular requirements for CE marking are specified in Annex ZA of the relevant Harmonised Technical specification.
As appropriate, a manufacturer must obtain certification for CE marking, which must be obtained from a certification body that has been notified by a Member State and with the necessary scope of expertise. The type of certification required will depend on the nature of the product and the system of attestation ascribed to that product. Attestation systems 1 and 1+ require both a certificate of Product Conformity (PC) and a certificate of Factory Production Control (FPC). Attestation systems 2 and 2+ require certificate of Factory Production Control (FPC).
There are a number of Harmonised Technical Specifications in CARES product area which can be used for CE marking which include:
- BS EN 10080: Steel for the reinforcement of concrete
- BS EN 13369: Common rules for precast concrete products
- BS EN 12794: Precast concrete products - Foundation piles
- ETAG 013: Post-tensioning kits for prestressing of structures
- BS EN 10025: Hot rolled products of structural steels
CARES is a notified certification body (CB) under the Construction Products Directive and can offer the necessary Product Conformity certification and Factory Production Control certification.
